Frequently Asked Questions
Established with its new structure forming the space sciences ecosystem, having received its qualification on 25 April 2023.
1- Can I visit the observatory campuses?
Amateur sky observations are not carried out because the telescopes at the observatory located on mountain summits have technical configurations and are dedicated to the scientific projects conducted at night. In addition, due to the difficulty of responding to any emergency (health, accident, etc.) that may occur in the region because of the terrain and road conditions, visitors other than authorized personnel and professional researchers cannot be admitted to the campus.
2- I want to participate in a sky observation event; what are your requirements?
You should follow the announcements on the official website and fill out the application form with correct information. Participation is suitable for people who are interested in the sky and science, and who have the equipment and health to camp. Participants under the age of 16 may attend accompanied by a parent. You can join the observations with expert guides using the many telescopes set up in the observation area. If you wish, you can also bring your own telescope and observe. Per event rules, transfer of rights is not permitted, and no one other than confirmed participants is admitted to the event area.
3- Is there an event we can attend as a school?
You can attend Astronomical Observation Events by appointment at the Türkiye National Observatories Antalya Office. During the daytime event, Sun observation is carried out with students using a special-filter telescope, a presentation introducing the observatory is given, and questions are answered. Sun observation cannot be carried out in adverse weather conditions, but the introduction and talk event is held.
